STATEMENT REGARDING LONDON SHOW CANCELLATION 8th OCTOBER 2016
Skarlett Riot are saddened and angry to have to write this, A few days ago out of the blue, the promoter for our London show received an email from ‘Columbo Group’ (who have just bought out The Barfly venue) telling us we have to cancel or move our show on the 8th October despite our show having been booked and on sale since May 2016, and selling very well!
A polite email from our agent was sent to Kat McPartlan of Columbo Group, explaining how the show had been booked in since May, contracted with the promoter, and how expenses for all bands on the billing such as accommodation, logistics, music video, show promotion, and most importantly, our FANS tickets, train fares etc… had already been paid for, (there were many fans travelling outside London and the UK to be a part of the video) so it was impossible to move the show so late on. In the mean-time our agent and the show promoter were trying to sort us a replacement venue, but with such short notice, all venues we’re booked so changing venue wasn’t possible either.
After a few more back and forth emails appealing for the show to still go ahead, Kat McPartlan of Columbo group has forcibly cancelled the show. The reason given for cancellation was, quote “Moving this show is essential to me taking three dates on a festival which will all sell out and I am not prepared to lose”
Is this good business? Is this how we and the other bands on the bill should be treated and how our fans should be treated? Do they think they are going to enhance their reputation or that of ‘Camden Assembly’ by this behaviour? It really upsets us to see a good venue go downhill. Skarlett Riot will not be working with Columbo Group or Assembly again, which saddens us because we made some great memories at The Barfly in 2015 on our headline tour.
All we can do is apologise to you from the bottom of our hearts for the inconvenience caused. All tickets will be refunded at point of purchase. We WILL be re arranging this show to film a music video with you guys in 2017. We hope to see you in the near future.
